Monthly versus quarterly. Six of the eight benefits in the table pay monthly. The CGEB pays four times a year and the CWB advance three times a year, so missing one of those payments is a bigger hit to your budget.

Which benefits are taxable. CPP and OAS are taxable income. The Canada Child Benefit, the CGEB, the Ontario Trillium Benefit and the GIS are not taxed. Retirees who also draw on savings can compare the TFSA withdrawal rules with RRIF income, since TFSA withdrawals do not count toward the OAS clawback.

1. CPP, OAS and GIS Payment Dates 2026

CPP payment dates and OAS payment dates are the same: Service Canada pays the CPP, OAS and GIS on one shared date each month.

AprilTuesday, April 28OctoberWednesday, October 28
MayWednesday, May 27NovemberThursday, November 26
JuneFriday, June 26DecemberTuesday, December 22

The pattern. From January to November 2026, every date falls between the 25th and the 29th. December is earlier, on the 22nd, ahead of the holidays. The 2027 dates have not been published yet.

Amounts. The maximum CPP retirement pension for someone starting at 65 in 2026 is $1,507.65 a month, and the average new pension at 65 was $858.34 as of July 2026. For October to December 2026, OAS pays up to $762.50 a month at ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 at 75 or older, and the GIS adds up to $1,138.90 a month for a single pensioner with income under $23,112.

The OAS clawback. For the 2026 income year, OAS is reduced by 15% of net world income above $95,323, collected from July 2027 to June 2028. Service Canada estimates OAS is fully recovered at $155,320 for ages 65 to 74 and $161,320 for 75 or older. Enter your expected income below to see your recovery tax.

Start ages. CPP can start from 60 with a 0.6% cut for each month before 65, or be deferred to 70 with a 0.7% increase for each month after 65. OAS can be deferred from 65 to 70 for 0.6% more per month. Our full CPP and OAS payment dates guide covers start ages, taxes and late payments. To plan withdrawals alongside your pensions, see the RRIF minimum withdrawal table.

Amounts, the clawback and lower-income seniors. Each part of retirement income now has its own guide and calculator. The GIS is paid only to people who receive OAS, and at 60 to 64 the spouse or common-law partner of a GIS recipient may get the Allowance, up to $1,448.06 a month, while a widowed person may get the Allowance for the Survivor, up to $1,726.18 a month, for October to December 2026.

2. GST Payment Dates and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit

The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026. It was announced on January 26, 2026, Bill C-19 received Royal Assent on February 12, 2026, and amounts rose 25% for five years starting with the July 3, 2026 payment.

The 5th-of-the-month rule. Payments go out on the 5th of July, October, January and April, or the business day before when the 5th is a weekend or holiday. That is why April 2026 was paid on the 2nd and July on the 3rd.

Amounts for July 2026 to June 2027. Up to $679 a year for a single adult ($445 adult amount plus a $234 single supplement), $890 for a couple and $234 for each child under 19. The full amount is paid when adjusted family net income is $46,432 or less, and it is reduced as income rises above that level.

The top-up. A one-time top-up equal to 50% of the annual GST credit value for the prior benefit year was scheduled for June 5, 2026. Estimate your quarterly payment below, then read the full GST/HST credit payment dates and amounts page for eligibility and the change in detail.

Families with children can turn part of each CCB payment into government grants through an RESP.

AprilMonday, April 20OctoberTuesday, October 20
MayWednesday, May 20NovemberFriday, November 20
JuneFriday, June 19DecemberFriday, December 11

The pattern. In 2026 the CCB is paid on the 20th, or the Friday before when the 20th is a weekend (June 19 and September 18). December is paid early, on the 11th. The 2027 CCB dates have not been published yet.

Amounts for July 2026 to June 2027. The maximum is $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) for each child under 6 and $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) for each child aged 6 to 17. The child disability benefit adds up to $3,480 a year ($290 a month) for an eligible child.

How the CCB is reduced by adjusted family net income, July 2026 to June 2027
Number of childrenReduction on income between $38,237 and $82,847Reduction on income above $82,847
1 child7% of income over $38,237$3,123 plus 3.2% of income over $82,847
2 children13.5% of income over $38,237$6,022 plus 5.7% of income over $82,847
3 children19% of income over $38,237$8,476 plus 8% of income over $82,847
4 or more children23% of income over $38,237$10,260 plus 9.5% of income over $82,847

A worked example. This example is hypothetical. A family with one child under 6 and adjusted family net income of $60,000 has its CCB reduced by $1,523.41 (7% x ($60,000 − $38,237)). The CCB is $6,633.59 for the year ($8,157 − $1,523.41), or about $552.80 a month ($6,633.59 ÷ 12).

Make it grow. Saving part of the CCB in an RESP attracts government grants, and our best RESP providers list compares where to open one.

4. Ontario Trillium Benefit Payment Dates 2026

MarchTuesday, March 10SeptemberThursday, September 10
AprilFriday, April 10OctoberFriday, October 9
MayFriday, May 8NovemberTuesday, November 10
JuneWednesday, June 10DecemberThursday, December 10

The pattern. In 2026 the OTB is paid on the 10th, or the business day before when the 10th falls on a weekend (January 9, May 8 and October 9). The 2027 Ontario Trillium Benefit payment dates have not been published yet.

What it includes. The OTB combines three Ontario credits into one payment: the Ontario energy and property tax credit, the Northern Ontario energy credit and the Ontario sales tax credit. Ontario sets the amounts and income tests, and the CRA pays them for the province.

How to get it. You claim the OTB on your income tax return by completing the Ontario application that comes with it. You need to be an Ontario resident and file a return. Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 are based on your 2025 return.

Monthly or once a year. The OTB is normally paid monthly. When you file, you can choose to receive the year’s entitlement in a single payment at the end of the benefit year instead. Monthly payments put the money in your account sooner.

Amounts for July 2026 to June 2027. The Ontario energy and property tax credit pays up to $1,307 a year, or $1,488 for seniors, and the Ontario sales tax credit up to $378 for each adult and child. Northern Ontario residents can add the Northern Ontario energy credit of up to $189 for a single person or $290 for a family. The energy and property tax credit and the sales tax credit start to fall once adjusted family net income passes $29,047 for a single person without children, with higher starting points for families and seniors. An entitlement over $500 can be taken as one payment on June 10, 2027 instead of monthly.

Separate from the CGEB. The OTB does not arrive with the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit. An Ontario family can see three separate CRA deposits in a month: the OTB around the 10th, the CCB around the 20th and, in quarter months, the CGEB around the 5th.

5. Canada Disability Benefit Payment Dates 2026

MayThursday, May 21NovemberThursday, November 19
JuneThursday, June 18DecemberThursday, December 17

The pattern. Every 2026 payment falls on the third Thursday of the month. The 2027 dates have not been published yet.

Amount. The maximum is $204.20 a month from July 2026 to June 2027, up from $200 a month for July 2025 to June 2026. Over 12 months that is $2,450.40 ($204.20 x 12).

Income test. The income thresholds listed for the benefit are $23,000 for a single person and $32,500 for a couple. The benefit is reduced by 20% of income above the threshold, or 10% each when both spouses receive it. Working income is partly exempt: $10,210 for a single person and $14,294 for a couple in 2026-27.

Who it is for. The benefit is for working-age adults who are approved for the disability tax credit and who file a tax return each year, along with their spouse or partner. You apply through Service Canada, and payments follow the dates above once you are approved.

6. Canada Workers Benefit Advance Payment Dates

PaymentDateDay
January 2026January 12, 2026Monday
July 2026July 10, 2026Friday
October 2026October 9, 2026Friday

How the advance works. The Canada workers benefit is a refundable tax credit for low-income workers. Part of your expected benefit is paid in advance during the year, and the rest is paid when you file your return. The 2027 advance dates have not been published yet.

Amounts for 2026. The maximum CWB is $1,665 for a single person without children and $2,869 for a family. It starts to phase out at adjusted net income of $27,392 for a single person and $31,251 for a family. Alberta, Quebec and Nunavut use different amounts.

Who gets the advance. The CRA uses your previous return to decide whether you qualify for advance payments. If your income rises during the year, the advances can exceed your final CWB, and you repay the difference when you file. To avoid a surprise bill, please keep an eye on your income if you take on more work.

7. Direct Deposit and How Payments Arrive

One account for the CRA, one for Service Canada. The CRA uses one direct deposit account for the CGEB, the CCB, the OTB, the CWB advance and tax refunds. Service Canada keeps its own banking details for CPP, OAS, the GIS and the Canada Disability Benefit. If you change banks, update both.

How to set it up. For CRA payments, use your CRA online account, your tax return, a call to the CRA or the direct deposit option in many Canadian banks’ online banking. For Service Canada payments, use your Service Canada online account or contact Service Canada.

Timing. Direct deposits are released on the payment date. The time the money appears depends on your bank. Cheques take longer because they travel by mail.

Keep the old account open. Close an old account only after the first deposit has landed in the new one. A payment sent to a closed account is returned and reissued later. If you are choosing a new bank for benefit deposits, our EQ Bank review and Wealthsimple Chequing review cover two online options.

Where to receive payments. If monthly fees eat into benefit payments, compare no-fee chequing accounts or the best chequing accounts in Canada. Money you will not spend right away can sit in one of the best high-interest savings accounts or a TFSA.

8. Late or Missing Payment: What to Do

Check the calendar first. Many missing payments are not due yet. December dates come early for the CCB (December 11) and for CPP and OAS (December 22), and the CGEB is quarterly, so there is no CGEB payment in November or December.

Check your return. The CGEB, CCB, OTB and GIS all depend on a filed tax return. If you or your spouse did not file for 2025, payments can stop in July 2026 until the return is processed. If you file yourself, compare the best tax software in Canada.

Check your banking and address. A closed account, a new bank or an old mailing address is a common cause of a missing deposit. Your CRA or Service Canada online account shows the account on file and your payment history.

Allow time for mail. If you are paid by cheque, give the mail several business days before you report a payment missing.

Contact the right office. Call the CRA about the CGEB, CCB, OTB and CWB advance. Call Service Canada about CPP, OAS, the GIS and the Canada Disability Benefit. Have your Social Insurance Number and your latest notice ready.

Watch for changes. A new marital status, a child turning 6 or 18, higher family income or a move outside Canada can lower or stop a payment. The notice you receive each July explains the new amount. Every figure on this page is checked and dated under our editorial standards.

How to Make Sure You Get Every Payment

  1. File your return every year. File on time, even with no income, and make sure your spouse or partner files too. Most benefits on this page are set from your return.
  2. Register your children. Apply for the Canada Child Benefit at birth or when a child joins your family. That also adds the child to your CGEB.
  3. Apply for the programs that need it. CPP must be applied for, and the Canada Disability Benefit needs an application through Service Canada. OAS may start automatically.
  4. Set up direct deposit twice. Give your banking details to both the CRA and Service Canada.
  5. Report changes quickly. Tell the CRA and Service Canada about a move, marriage, separation, birth or death.
  6. Put the dates in your calendar. Use the tables above or the countdown tracker, and check back for 2027 dates.

CRA Payment Dates 2026: FAQ

What are the next CRA payment dates in 2026?

The next dates are October 28 for CPP, OAS and the GIS, November 10 for the Ontario Trillium Benefit, November 19 for the Canada Disability Benefit and November 20 for the Canada Child Benefit. The next Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment, which replaced the GST/HST credit, is January 5, 2027.

When is the next CCB payment?

The next Canada Child Benefit payments are Friday, November 20 and Friday, December 11, 2026. The December payment comes early, ahead of the holidays. From July 2026 to June 2027 the CCB pays up to $8,157 a year for each child under 6 and $6,883 for each child aged 6 to 17.

When is the next GST payment?

The next payment is Tuesday, January 5, 2027, followed by April 5, 2027. Since July 2026 it is paid as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, which pays up to $679 a year for a single adult, $890 for a couple and $234 per child under 19 from July 2026 to June 2027.

When are CPP and OAS paid in November and December 2026?

CPP, OAS and the GIS are paid on Thursday, November 26 and Tuesday, December 22, 2026. All three share one date each month. The December payment is earlier than usual, so budget for a longer gap until the January 2027 payment, whose date has not been published yet.

When is the Ontario Trillium Benefit paid?

The remaining 2026 Ontario Trillium Benefit dates are Tuesday, November 10 and Thursday, December 10. In 2026 the OTB is paid on the 10th of each month, or the business day before when the 10th falls on a weekend. The 2027 dates have not been published yet.

Have the 2027 benefit payment dates been published?

Only partly. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit will be paid on January 5 and April 5, 2027. The 2027 dates for CPP, OAS, the GIS, the Canada Child Benefit, the Ontario Trillium Benefit, the Canada Disability Benefit and the Canada workers benefit advance have not been published yet. We add them here when they are released.

What should I do if a benefit payment does not arrive?

Check the date in the tables first, then confirm that your return was filed and that your bank account and address are current. Look at your CRA or Service Canada online account for messages. If a payment is still missing after several business days, contact the CRA or Service Canada, depending on which program pays it.

Do I have to file a tax return to get benefits?

Yes, for most of them. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, the Canada Child Benefit, the Ontario Trillium Benefit, the GIS and the Canada workers benefit all use your tax return, and your spouse’s or partner’s return where you have one. Filing every year, even with no income, keeps payments coming without a break in July.

Are government benefit payments taxable?

CPP and OAS are taxable income and come with T4A slips. The Canada Child Benefit, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the Ontario Trillium Benefit are not taxable and are not reported as income. The GIS is reported on your return and then deducted, so it is not taxed either.
