About WealthScale
WealthScale is an independent Canadian website that compares investing accounts, online brokers, robo-advisors, savings accounts, GICs and bank accounts on what they really cost. It is published by WealthScale Media Inc., a federal corporation at 55 Queen St E, Suite 1205, Toronto. Pages are written by Sharad Gondaliya, CPA, who has more than 15 years in accounting and tax. Our financial reviewer for investing and account pages is Neha Gupta, CFA, a CFA charterholder who has worked in financial markets since December 2005. We give general information only: no personal advice, no stock picks and no paid rankings.
At a glance
Who publishes WealthScale. WealthScale Media Inc., a federal corporation with its office at 55 Queen St E, Suite 1205, Toronto, ON M5C 1R6.
What WealthScale does. It compares Canadian investing accounts, platforms, savings and banking on real costs: commissions, account fees, transfer fees, margin interest and interest rates, each shown with the date it was checked.
Who writes. Sharad Gondaliya, CPA, a CPA Ontario member (No. 61040184) and a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Washington and Montana. Tax rules, government benefits and final approval on every page are his.
Who reviews. Neha Gupta, CFA, a CFA charterholder, reviews WealthScale’s investing and account pages: platforms, brokers, robo-advisors, TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, RESP and bank accounts. Her review line shows a date on a page only after she signs that page off.
How WealthScale makes money. Today the site has no partner (affiliate) links. Partner applications are in progress. Payment will never change which providers we include, their score, their order or their button style.
What we never do. No personal financial advice, no stock, ETF or crypto picks, no paid rankings and no invented reviews or testimonials.
1. Who We Are: WealthScale Media Inc.
The publisher. WealthScale is published by WealthScale Media Inc., a federal corporation. Our office is at 55 Queen St E, Suite 1205, Toronto, ON M5C 1R6. WealthScale Media Inc. is responsible for every page, table and calculator on this site.
Who runs WealthScale. Sharad Gondaliya, CPA writes WealthScale’s pages and gives final approval before any page goes live. Neha Gupta, CFA is our financial reviewer for investing and account pages. Both have full profiles with their credentials and links to verify them, so you can check who is behind what you read.
Who we write for. We write for Canadians who manage their own money. That includes people opening a first TFSA, choosing between a broker and a robo-advisor, moving savings to a better rate or cutting the commissions and account fees they pay to invest. We assume no finance background and explain every term in plain language.
What the name means. The “Scale” in WealthScale means growth: helping savings scale up over time. It does not refer to a weighing scale. Our short version of the idea is three words: compare, choose, grow.
2. Our Mission: Compare Canadian Accounts on Real Costs
What “real costs” means. The headline price of an account rarely tells the whole story. A broker can advertise no commission on stock trades and still charge per contract on options, a monthly fee for a US dollar account or a fee to transfer your account out. A savings account can advertise a high rate that drops when a promotion ends. We put the costs that come out of your pocket side by side: commissions, options fees, account and administration fees, transfer-out fees, margin interest, and the interest you earn on cash.
Dated figures. Every rate and fee on WealthScale carries the date we checked it, written as “as of October 22, 2026”. Interest rates are re-checked weekly, fees monthly, and contribution limits each January and whenever a change is announced. If a figure has not been published yet, we say so instead of guessing.
Calculators that do the arithmetic. Many pages include a calculator that runs your own numbers. Our investing, savings and tax calculators cover TFSA contribution room, RRSP tax savings, FHSA room, RESP grants, RRIF minimum withdrawals, compound growth, capital gains tax and the yearly cost of a broker, robo-advisor or fund. The TFSA contribution room calculator is a good place to start, and the investment fee calculator shows what your investing costs each year.
Answers first. Each page opens with the answer, then gives the rules, exceptions, dates and worked examples behind it.
3. Our Reviewers
Two credentialed people stand behind WealthScale’s pages. Each has a profile that lists their credentials and links to the public directories where you can verify them.

- More than 15 years in accounting, tax and payroll for incorporated small businesses
- Six years of Canada–US cross-border work and more than 100 cross-border files
- Founder and Principal, Gondaliya CPA Professional Corporation, Toronto; WealthScale is independent of the firm
Neha Gupta, CFA
- Financial reviewer for investing and account pages

- Head of Operations and Finance at Whiteland Real Estate, Winnipeg
Why two reviewers. A tax page goes wrong when a limit, deadline or income threshold is out of date. An investing page goes wrong when a fee, account feature or investment term has changed. Splitting the checks between a CPA and a CFA charterholder puts each kind of error in front of the person trained to catch it.
4. How WealthScale Pages Are Written and Reviewed
Written by a CPA. Sharad writes each page and checks every tax rule, contribution limit and government benefit figure against primary sources: Canada Revenue Agency publications, Service Canada, provincial governments and, for US rules, the IRS.
Reviewed by a CFA charterholder. Neha reviews WealthScale’s investing and account pages: platforms, brokers, robo-advisors, TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, RESP and bank accounts. She checks fees, account features and investment terms against providers’ own pages and regulator sources, and flags anything unclear or out of date.
Final approval. Tax rules, government benefits and final approval are Sharad’s. A page goes live only after he approves it.
The review line in each byline. Pages in Neha’s scope show a review line beside her name. Until she signs a page off, that line reads “Review of this page scheduled”. Her review line shows a date on a page only after she signs that page off.
The full rules. Our editorial standards cover sources, re-check schedules and corrections.
5. What We Cover
WealthScale has ten sections, each with a hub page that links to every guide, comparison and calculator inside it.
Providers we review. Our reviews cover Wealthsimple, Questrade, Interactive Brokers, moomoo, Webull, Qtrade, TD Direct Investing, RBC Direct Investing and EQ Bank. The reviews hub lists every one.
6. How We Rate and Rank Providers
Published scores. Our best-of lists, such as the best online brokers in Canada, rank providers by a published score out of 5, shown as “4.6 / 5”. The order on the page follows the score. The factors and weights are explained in how we rate online brokers and robo-advisors.
The same criteria for every provider. Every provider on a list is measured against the same published criteria for that list.
No awards outside the score. We do not hand out stars, awards or “editor’s picks” that sit outside the published score.
Costs worked out, not estimated. Where a list compares costs, we work out the yearly cost for two sample trading profiles from each provider’s published commissions and account fees, and show the arithmetic.
What a score is not. A score is general information about how well a provider fits common needs. It is not a recommendation for you: the cheapest broker for one investor can be the wrong choice for another.
7. Independence and How We Make Money
No partner links today. WealthScale has no partner (affiliate) links today. Partner applications are in progress. Once partner links are live, we may earn a commission when a reader opens an account through one. Each will carry a visible “Partner link” label and will be marked as sponsored in the page code, so search engines know it is paid.
What payment never changes. Payment never changes which providers we include, their score, their order on a list or the style of their button. Our reviewers are paid a flat fee that never depends on which providers we rate, rank or link to. There are no paid reviews and no sponsored rankings. Our advertiser disclosure gives the full details.
8. What WealthScale Does Not Do
No personal advice. WealthScale provides general information only. We do not know your income, goals, tax position or tolerance for risk, so nothing here is personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Canadian securities rules (National Instrument 31-103) allow general advice that is not tailored to the needs of the person receiving it, and we stay on that side of the line. For advice on your own situation, please speak with a qualified professional who can review your facts.
No stock, ETF or crypto picks. We do not tell you what to buy. We do not publish model portfolios, buy lists or price targets. When a review names a provider’s own account types or managed portfolios, that is a description of the product, not a recommendation.
No paid rankings. No provider can pay to be included, scored higher or moved up a list (see section 6).
No invented evidence. We do not publish testimonials, made-up reviews, user counts or claims that we “tested” a product. Examples are labelled hypothetical, with the arithmetic shown.
No access to your money. WealthScale is not a bank, broker or dealer. We cannot open, see or change any account. Please never send us passwords, account numbers or your social insurance number. For a problem with an account, please contact the provider that holds it.
